About TheYorkshireTart

TheYorkshireTart is originally from West Yorkshire in the north of England and currently lives in downtown Jersey City with her Minnesotan better half and Irish cat. Two years ago, she moved to New York to study for a PhD at Columbia University. For the most part, however, she thinks about, reads about, cooks, and most importantly eats, tarts. Making the food she grew up with helps her fight occasional home sickness and reinforces her identity as a proud Yorkshire-woman.

But these are tarts with a twist. At once nostalgic and locally inspired, her tarts are just as much a celebration of her new home as they are a trip down memory lane. Excited by the New York/New Jersey food scene and the amazing array of produce on offer at the multitude of Farmer’s markets, TheYorkshireTart adjusts her recipes to match the local, seasonal offerings that she finds every time she sets foot outside her door.  This blog is about her roots, her love of food, and most importantly, her wish to share wonderful northern-English-inspired food with readers on both sides of the pond.
